Can you recover deleted screenshots on an iPhone?
Yes you can! When you delete a screenshot or photo from your iPhone Camera Roll, it ends up in a specific folder, where it will remain for 30 days before being permanently deleted.
- Open the Photos app .
- Scroll down the menu and tap Recently Deleted .
- Any photos you've deleted in the last 30 days will appear here. At the bottom of each image's thumbnail, you'll see how many days a photo has left before it's automatically deleted.
- Tap an image to see it up close. Press Recover to send it back to your Camera Roll.
Can I restore deleted screenshots?
You can do it too. Any images previously deleted from your iPhone's Recently Deleted folder can be recovered and added to your Camera Roll.
Note: Restored images will reappear in your Camera Roll relative to when you originally took them. For example, if you retrieve a photo from two weeks ago, it will appear before images taken a few days ago.
- Open the Photos app .
- Scroll down the menu and tap Recently Deleted .
- Find the image you want to restore (depending on how long the image was deleted, you may need to scroll up to find it). Press and hold the image to enlarge the thumbnail.
- Press Recover to immediately return the image to your Camera Roll. You can find it in the Recents folder .
- You can tap on an image (instead of long-pressing) to see it up close. From there, you can pinch to zoom in or out, tap Recover to send it to your camera roll, or tap Delete to permanently delete the image from your iPhone (this can't be undone).
- When you press Recover , a verification button appears. Tap Retrieve Photo to confirm and return the image to your Camera Roll or tap Cancel to stop retrieval.
Are deleted screenshots permanently lost?
Well, yes and no. Images deleted from your iPhone Camera Roll will be moved to the Recently Deleted folder but remain accessible for up to 30 days from the time you select Delete .
Once these 30 days have passed, you decide to erase the Recently Deleted folder , or you manually delete an image in this folder, it is permanently lost and you will not be able to recover it.
