How to Combine iPhone Photos Using the Layout App

One of the best ways to put photos side by side on an iPhone is to use the free Layout app. This application comes from the developers of Instagram and offers different ways to combine your images.

Here are the steps to use Layout:

1. Open the App Store on your iPhone and search for  Layout . Tap the entry that  says Layout from Instagram and install the app on your phone.
2. Launch the app once it is installed.
3. On the app's main screen, tap the photos you want to combine into a single image.
4. As soon as you start tapping photos, Layout displays various compositions at the top. Select the layout that contains your selected photos side by side.
5. Your selected layout will open in full screen mode. If you want, use the tools given at the bottom of your screen to edit your photo.
6. Tap  Save  in the top right corner to save your combined photo.
7. The layout will save your photo to the Photos app.
8. Tap  Done  to close edit mode in Layout.

How to Combine Photos Using Shortcuts on an iPhone

If you want to merge photos from the Photos app, Shortcuts can help you do that. Shortcuts is a free app owned by Apple that you can use to automate many tasks on your iPhone, including combining images.

In Shortcuts, you need to create a custom shortcut that processes the selected images, combines them, and saves them back to Photos.

Here are the steps to create the shortcut you need:

1. Open the App Store, search for Shortcuts and install the Shortcuts app  on your device if you don't already have it.
2. Launch the Shortcuts app  and on the app's main screen, tap  Create Shortcut  to add a new shortcut.
3. On the next screen, search for Combine Images  and tap on that option from the results.
4. Now you need to configure the selected action:
5. In  Mode , select  Side by side , because you want to put your photos side by side.
6. Then choose  Horizontal  or  Vertical , depending on how you want to combine your images.
7. Leave the  Spacing field  blank if you don't want any space between your combined photos.
8. Look for another action named  Save to Photo Album . Tap the stock when it appears in the search results. This action will save your combined photo to the Photos app. Tap the option next to  Album  in the  Save to Photo Album section  to choose where your combined photos will be saved.
9. Tap the settings icon in the upper right corner of your shortcut, then tap  Name  and enter a name for your shortcut. Use a descriptive name, like  Combine Photos , so you don't lose sight of it in the future.
10. Turn on the  Show in Share Sheet toggle  so you can see this shortcut in the Photos app. Next, tap  Done  in the top right corner, then  tap Done  to save your shortcut.

After creating the shortcut above, here's how to use it:

1. Launch the  Photos app  on your iPhone and select the photos you want to combine.
2. Tap the share icon   in the lower left corner and choose  Shortcuts  .
3. Select the shortcut you created above and let it go through its process.
4. Go back to Photos to find your combined image.
